Vincent Boucher, the featured organ soloist on this two-organist, two-choir recording, performs the masses and sacred motets of Charles-Marie Widor and Louis Vierne with the Petits chanteurs du Mont-Royal boys choir and the Chantres musiciens men's choir, both directed by Gilbert Patenaude. Composed in 1878, Widor's Messe, Op. 36 calls for a large number of singers formed into two choirs. Vierne was Widor's substitute at Saint-Sulpice when he began his Messe pour deux orgues et choeur, Op. 16 in 1899. Organist Jonathan Oldengarm gives regular recitals in North America, Asia and Europe.
