    Full Time Church Lackey
    Difficulty Level:
  • March 21, 2018 Nice arrangement, sub-par engraving

The arrangement is a satisfying presentation of the hymn tune with some very nice passing of voices and motives among the instruments. The final cadence is particularly nice. It is well done and will make a good prelude for my Easter services. My big gripe, and this is important, is...

the quality of the engraving, which is substandard. The score does not put the instruments in the correct order for a quintet. The trumpet staves are larger than the other saves for some reason. There are a few odd font choices. Objects collide in many places. In short, it looks like an amateur arrangement by someone who doesn't know, or doesn't care, how a score should look on the page. Of course, the congregation doesn't care how the score looks, but the musicians do.
