Villanelle

The intensely self-critical Dukas left few works behind for publication, but this is a lovely sample of his work. Lively rhythms with short spells of mysterious atmosphere. Challenging and exciting.

An excellent piece for advanced horn players. Incorporates everything horn playing is about, and then some (i.e. natural horn, stopped horn, muted horn, fast light tonguing, smooth lyrical sections, and a high C at the end to top it off). Truly a masterpiece and I would recommend it to...

any person proficient in horn, yet wanting to push the envelope that much further.

This was my highschool district piece, and it's AWESOME! great for fun, or college auditions.

This by far is my favorite of my collection of horn works. His unique way of using stopped horn, the passion of the music, and the flexibility you must have!!! After all, I am a 25 year horn player.
