Composed by Giuseppe Verdi. Arranged by Damiano Drei. Opera,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 16 pages. Gordon Cherry #4853479. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811069).

Va Pensiero, the great chorus from Verdi's opera Nabucco is also known as The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves, retelling the biblical story of the Babylonian captivity of the Jewish people after the destruction of the First Temple in Jerusalem in 586 BCE. Italian patriots who were seeking to unify their country and free it from foreign control found the hymn very moving.

The music was performed  as a cortege in the streets of Milan after the composer's death.

Mr. Drei's beautiful arrangement is appropriate for moderately advanced performers and is about 4 minutes in length. Parts are supplied for C and B-flat Trumpets.
