Italian patriots who were seeking to unify their country and free it from foreign control found the hymn very moving.
The music was performed as a cortege in the streets of Milan after the composer's death.
Mr. Drei's beautiful arrangement is appropriate for moderately advanced performers and is about 4 minutes in length. Parts are supplied for C and B-flat Trumpets.
