Following the success of Toby Fox's hit video game UNDERTALE, Undertale Variations is a four-mallet marimba solo based on the title track from the game's soundtrack, Undertale. This piece showcases virtuosic control of four-mallet technique, setting Fox's melodies and harmonies in various idiomatic and contrapuntal textures across the instrument. A great work for the recitalist looking to include an accessible, light-hearted work that still showcases virtuosity and command of the instrument, or for the advanced marimba student looking for an opportunity to exercise their technique.
Undertale Variations requires a five-octave marimba, and four-mallet technique. It was originally released on the album "FALLEN: An Undertale Tribute" by the Materia Collective. This work was arranged, premiered, and recorded by Doug Perry.
