Beethoven's Variations in Eb, on -Bei Mannern welche Liebe fuhlem- were composed in Vienna in 1802 for cello and piano, dedicated to Count Johann Georg von Brown-Camus (1767-1827), one of Beethoven's early Viennese patrons. Beethoven's Op. 66, Variations in F on -Ein Madchen oder Weibchen- was composed in 1796 and published in Vienna in 1798, when Mozart's music was very popular.
