Composed by Richard St. Clair. 20th Century,Sacred. Score and parts. 33 pages. Richard St. Clair #3140783. Published by Richard St. Clair (A0.939742).

These songs are to be sung in the original language of early Buddhism called Pali. The style of these songs was inspired by and (without slavish imitation) emulates the master composers of the Ars Nova period (14th century CE) such as Machaut, Landini and Ciconia. The text is Buddhist, from the Pali Canon or the collection of teachings of early Buddhism. The words are mainly from the Buddha Shakyamuni (or Gotama), who lived ca. 563-483 BCE. A full translation of the lyrics appears at the end of the score. The music is chiefly modal/tonal throughout.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
