Eugene Walckiers (1793-1866) was a French flautist and composer. He studied at first with a master called Marchand then went to Parish where he studied with Jean Louis Tulou. While there he also met Henri Brod, Gioacchina Rossini and Anton Reicha with whom he studied harmony and composition. Walckiers published more than a hundred works for flute and piano or string quartet, most of which are fantasies on operatic themes, sets of variations or rondos. He also wrote quartets for flute and string trio as well as various flute duets.
