Tico-Tico is the title of a renowned Brazilian choro music piece composed by Zequinha de Abreu in 1917. Its original title was Tico-Tico no Farelo. Brad Howland, Principal Trombonist of the Victoria Symphony has brilliantly arranged this great little number for Brass Quintet (Trumpets in B-flat) and it can be played by advanced performers. The mp3 sample has been recorded by members of the Victoria Symphony brass section. This work can be a great encore to your program.

This is a great arrangement but it is not easily mastered. Definitely worth it if you have advanced players (1st trumpet especially) and time to work it up.

This arrangement is really fun. The piece is complicated enough (especially with some tricky fingerings for the trumpets) that it will make you have to hammer it out in a practice room to get it up to speed. But once everyone knows their parts, it sounds great! A favorite of...

my brass quintet and audience members alike.
