Robert Powell has applied his skill to writing partitas for organ on the beloved tunes cwm rhondda (four variations), hyfrydol (four variations), and rhosymedre (five variations). Most of the variations call for pedal, but some are for manuals only. Ranging in difficulty level from easy to medium. Three Partitas on Welsh Hymn Tunes—CWM RHONDDA, HYFRYDOL, and RHOSYMEDRE—is a wonderful new addition to organ repertoire by Robert Powell. Each partita contains a series of movements that have descriptive titles based on style and tempo. These well known tunes can be paired with many texts, making the partitas useful for hymn introductions as well.
