Former Magdalen College viol consort-in-residence Phantasm joins the world-renowned Choir of Magdalen College, Oxford to showcase the magnificence of Thomas Tomkins' compositions. Thomas Tomkins (1572-1656) was one of the most influential choral composers of his day, and was a figurehead of the English Madrigal School. A variety of Tomkins' works are featured on this release, including his five verse anthems, which have become known as jewels in his choral output.
