  • June 24, 2006 A Very Touching Piece

Therese's Canticle is a beautiful song--it has a wonderful melody that perfectly fits the saint's poem "Canticle of Love" (which forms the lyrics). The piece is written to be used in a choir, but the piano accompaniment is useful for a stand-alone piece as well. Highly...

recommended if you want to learn a touching melody that doesn't cause your audience to fall asleep mid-way through the performance. It's of a similar style as Canon in D by Pachelbel. The piano transcription is definitely not for beginners--I'd say that it's about a level harder than Für Elise. I have been taking piano for 7 years and was able to plow through the song without too many mistakes in around a week. I believe I had it at performance level in a month or so.
