Le roman raconte l'histoire d'un jeune homme qui un soir, lors d'une promenade dans un parc, rencontre une mysterieuse jeune femme toute de blanc vetue que semble poursuivre une obscure menace. C'est pour lui le debut d'une formidableaventure au cours de laquelle il tentera de percer le mystere qui entoure cette jeune femme. Au fil de son enquete se tisse la toile d'un roman ou se melent amour, intrigues et revelations. Lentement, mais surement, il progresse vers l'asile ou est internee l'heroine du roman pour de bien etranges raisons. Nul ne sait encore si The Woman in White connaitra le meme succes que The Phantom of the Opera (Le Fantome de l'Opera), mais la musique est indubitablement aussi passionnante que l'œuvre de Wilkie Collins. Johan de Meij a rassemble les plus beaux themes dans un arrangement epoustouflant parfaitement adapte pour une interpretation en concert.
