These arrangements of the eight most beloved pieces from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker are perfect for the early viola student of all ages. The range of difficulty complements the first two books of most method series, such as String Builder, Essential Elements, Suzuki, String Basics, etc. All of the pieces are in first position and utilize simple bowing techniques. The selections are all in 2/4, 3 /4 or 4/4 time signatures, the key signatures do not exceed two sharps or two flats and there are minimal accidentals. Each piece comes with piano accompaniment for the fullest experience possible of the music. The piano parts are scored with the solo instrument above the piano staff with all fingerings, bowings and other markings included so that as the teacher is playing along, he or she can remind the student of these details. No suggested tempos are given so that the teacher may determine the best speed for a particular student, while still maintaining the original flavor of these well known pieces. This version of the Nutcracker will be enjoyed as lesson material, just for fun, or will make excellent winter recital pieces.
