  • February 20, 2010 Great music, but very poor edition

I recently learned several transcriptions from another edition and thought it'd be nice to have the entire collection of Schubert/Liszt song transcriptions. So, I bought all three volumes, but sadly when they arrived, I was disheartened by the quality of the print. I would NEVER play from these...

manuscripts. The type-set looks as if it were hand-written at times. It is not nearly as clean or legible as the edition from which I played. I DO NOT recommend these volumes. Great music, but very poor edition.

  • July 04, 2008 poorly printed and difficult to read

I bought this to learn in der ferne and, while difficult, the compressed and pale printing and ambiguous marking make it a nightmare to read. The music is great, but this version is to be avoided.

  • March 28, 2008 More of a book than sheet music

Most assuredly for the advanced player. Moreover, the 'sheet music' is more of a book to illustrate Liszt's adaptions. Not particularly fun to play from what with all the page turning.

  • April 25, 2007 Well done!

I bought this edition so I could play some of these popular classics and include the melody in the piano part. Liszt did a great job arranging these songs for solo piano, but they tend to be rather difficult and in some places, practically impossible to play exactly as written...
