Vaughan Williams freely arranged 5 folk songs in 1913 for choir. The songs work well for woodwinds and have the same wonderful sounds band musicians have treasured in his English Folk Song Suite. Although generally slow and soft, if you do a slow crescendo at the end, it can be very powerful indeed.
The piece has 3 minutes of music and requires each part being able to play independently.
