Item Number: AP.FE07324

ISBN 9780769241937. English.

This is the first and easiest book in a 4-book collection of preludes, interludes, and postludes compiled and arranged by Carlo Rossini for performance on pipe, electronic or reed organs, and with Hammond registrations included. No separate pedal notation staff is included, however many examples indicate notes for the pedals. The Liturgical Organist provides the average organist with an orderly collection of liturgical compositions for church use and for possible performance even on the smallest instrument. The compositions include works from the baroque, classical and romantic eras.

This is just what I need. As a budding organist, I have been searching for these short to medium length interludes. The amount of material is vast - should keep me happy for years. I especially like that the material is grouped by keys. I't certainly well organized.

  • January 01, 2009 The best "Holy" nonsense music book I own

By "Holy" nonsense I mean that it very suitable for church and also when you need filler-in-music for communion is where I have used this book the most. If the prelude is too short I will use some of this in beginning before I play the prelude to...

fill in time. There is no definite theme or structure to music so it is dull to the ear so people are not thinking of the theme of the music. It does make nice background music for any service. I plan on buying the whole series.

This is a good start for the beginning organist, although there are some pieces that I would never play at our church due to their chromatic or sappy style.
