This hauntingly beautiful setting celebrates new life and hope arising from barren hills and tired hearts. A quiet opening grows to a full, expressive climax when "hope renewed cries out, 'Amen"." It is based on the folk tune Prospect with fragments of Wondrous Love and The First Nowell.

This piece can be performed in one of three versions:
a cappella choir with two oboes (or other treble instruments)
choir, keyboard, and two oboes
choir and full orchestra. Opt. Full Score and Orchestration available separately, 50-1708A.
