Published by Nigel Williams (A0.763258).This traditional Irish ballad is arranged for male voice choir, (TTBB). (Note the digital audio clip starts from measure 49 to the end). Each section of the choir has the melody at some point which makes this arrangement attractive to singers. The more dramatic text in the latter verses allows for some rich harmonic progressions and pulling back of tempo, for example, 'what made you leave your own wedded lord'. These harmonic progressions take the arrangement from the 'home' key of D flat major, through F sharp major and finally to D major. Three minutes in duration, this characterful arrangement is well suited to high school, college and community male voice Glee clubs, and it would make an excellent recital and/or competition piece for an TTBB Honor choir.
