Francis Hopkinson (1737-1791) was an important figure in Revolutionary-era America not only as a statesman but also as a proponent of art music in Philadelphia. These 10 songs are his original compositions and are considered to be the first secular songs published in America. They are published here with new arrangements of the keyboard part by Kathryn Woodard. As in the previous publication of the Songbook, the vocal melodies are provided as optional instrumental solos - here transposed to fit the range of cello, bassoon, trombone and euphonium - and are attractive pieces for beginning to intermediate students on those instruments. Includes brief notes about the composer. 34 pp.
