I teach private guitar lessons and have been using this book since I started the program in March of 2009. It is very thorough in the skills that it teaches and is simple enough for the kids to pace themselves.

This book gives a comprehensive overview of playing positions, history, notation decoding, and offers a wide variety of literature...all at a great pace. I prefer to use this for adults as well because it doesn't assume a certain level of knowledge as other "adult beginner" books do, but...

it is not boring for mature brains.
