Composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958). Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred,General Worship,Easter. Score,Set of Parts. 9 pages. Published by Con Spirito Music (S0.310685).

“The Call” is the fourth of Five Mystical Songs, a setting of four poems by Welsh-born English poet and Anglican priest George Herbert (1593–1633) to music by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872–1958). It is also known as “Come, My Way, My Truth, My Life” from its publication as such in numerous hymnals.

Written by Vaughan Williams between 1906 and 1911, the Five Mystical Songs were set for baritone (voice) soloist with several choices of accompaniment: piano; piano and string quintet; wind ensemble; and orchestra with optional chorus.

This arrangement, derived from the setting for soloist and piano, seeks to honor the original work while employing the techniques and sonorities of the brass quintet. Some chord voicings, tempo indications, dynamics, and articulations have been edited by the arranger.
