This production of The Beggar's Opera has been created especially for television, and this adaptation wonderfully captures the satiric qualities of John Gay's original version. Roger Daltrey of THE WHO leads the cast in his role as Macheath. Produced and directed by Jonathan Miller, the cast is joined by The English Baroque Soloists, conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner, who is widely thought of as a master of ancient music.
