    Difficulty Level:
  • July 29, 2017 Not in original key for most of the book.

Almost every song in this book has been transposed from its original key to be more "playable." Sometimes they note that it has been transposed and on the occasion that they do note the transposition it's off by about 3 or 4 half steps. It's almost as if...

the creators of the book didn't take the music seriously and didn't believe that a Nirvana fan would actually be able to play the songs in the right key. It's kind of insulting. With that said, Kurt Cobain's melodies are quite intricate and sometimes complicated. His melodies (and sometimes chord progressions) remind me of The Beatles. If you change the instrumentation from loud guitars to more melodic instruments then the songs really do take on new shapes.

This book is terrible. "Come as you are" sounds like a bad version of "Ode to joy". Even the simplest songs like "MOlly's Lips" which is only 2 power chords the entire song and I learned myself, is wrong. It's also missing several songs from Incesticide and Unplugged...

such as "Son of a gun, Lake of fire, Oh me, Plateau ect.The point is DON'T GET IT, IT SUCKS.

Spirit, Rape Me, Lithium, Come As You Are, All Apologies, Pennyroyal Tea, The Man Who Sold the World and much, much more. But some I have not heard of so I was taking my chances but it all paid off when I got it.

Nirvana is great and this is one of the first books I got, but it's very confusing because there really is no lead guitar part to it, it's just mostly rhythm. If you're okay with playing rhythm then get this book but if u want a really...

accurate songs, get the note by note transcriptions, they give you the tunning and everything. They're a lot better.
