I like using this bk then the whistler bks with my students. You'll learn basic 3rd position on all strings. It makes it easier to teach and easier for the student to learn. Highest recommendation.

Wow; this book is great! starts out with spiccato and 4th finger extensions... trills, etc. turn to page 15 and begin learning doublestops. On page 17 you begin 3rd position -- exercises and songs on all strings. Complete with scales in the back of the book. Surprised I can do this...

stuff. I really think it's the way it's presented in the book.

  • 2008-04-27 00:00:00.0 wonderful violin method books

everything in this advanced violin method book makes sense: the exercises, progression of pieces, introduction to 3rd position, etc. I've been using it with my students for 6 years and notice very quick progress right from the start. It's better than all other methods combined, especially as far...

as motivating students to keep going. I've been teaching for 30 years, so I've tried other methods and observe others that have come out recently. The pieces are superior in this book and the rest of the books in this series. Try the other books. Our recitals include pieces from all 5 ABC's of Violin books. Really great method!"

  • 2008-03-14 00:00:00.0 3rd position easily understood here

I was in a fog 'til I got this book. It makes 3rd position easy. Just follow the finger graphs as you go along. It covers all 4 strings.

I like the step-by-step instructions of the 3rd position with finger charts and notes on the staff. Very clear for the kids.
