The African-American composer Scott Joplin (c. 1867 – 1917) is famous for developing and popularising ‘ragtime’ music, bringing this into mainstream musical awareness.

This arrangement of his Sycamore Rag, for mixed woodwind trio of flute, clarinet in B-flat and bassoon, is useful for adding a bit of variety to a recital programme, or to general repertoire.

The piece is something of a test of stamina, particularly for the reed instruments, and requires players to be confident about playing the different rhythm patterns accurately without support - hence the difficulty classification of 'advanced intermediate'.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
