This is a gorgeous musical depiction of a sunset in the arizona desert. It has a light Latin feel with added hand percussion instruments that will contribute to the overall flavor of the piece.
A desert is an exceedingly dry area of the globe that, by definition, receives less than ten inches of rain each year. The evaporation of rain water in a desert is greater than the amount of rainfall for much of the year. The area generally recognized as the Sonoran Desert includes the southwestern third of Arizona, a small area of southeastern California, most of Baja California del Norte and the western half of Sonora, Mexico. The ancient people who lived in the Sonoran Desert learned to accommodate for the lack of water and the abundance of sun by practicing water conservation and building shelters that kept them out of the blazing sunlight. The Sonoran Desert of Southern Arizona and Northwestern Mexico is well known for its beauty and grandly spectacular cacti, especially the Saguaro (pronounced "sowar- o") Cactus. The abundant cacti and other succulents growing in the Sonoran Desert defy the harsh climate as do the many species of animals that live there. Among these are Bald Eagles, Pygmy Owls, Jaguars, Mexican Gray Wolves, Masked Bobwhites, Mud Turtles, Western Yellow-billed Cuckoos and Ocelots. The Sonoran Desert is also noted for its spectacular sunsets which boast colors of gold, orange, rosy red and purple. Night after night, people who live in the desert enjoy the colorful light shows that dance across the sky from sunset to dusk. Sonoran Sunset is a musical rendition of some of the feelings I experienced while watching the setting sun, the glorious colors that light up the sky and the eventual fading of daylight into a starlit night.
