Felix Mendelssohn wrote over 50 short pieces for the piano that he called "Songs Without Words" - short, lyrical pieces usually 2-3 minutes long in contrasting musical styles. In this collection, Danny Chapa has chosen five of these in which the melody was scored for the highest voice in the piano, and transcribed that voice for euphonium.
Dr. Chapa holds degrees from Louisiana State University and from the University of North Texas and has held faculty positions at Stephen F. Austin State University and at Brookhaven College. He is an active performer and lecturer at concerts and conferences around the United States.
