I am a lyric soprano and I recently wrote my DMA dissertation on the songs of Chopin. This edition is the best, as it has all nineteen of the songs in Polish, with critical and historical information in an appendix. The edition also comes with a free-standing vocal-line...

-only version of the songs in "singable" English translations. From the many translations available for each song, the editors chose the English versions that most closely follows the original Polish. The music itself is quite simple, majestic, and beautiful in its often folk-like simplicity. The true difficulty of performing these songs lies in the pronunciation of the Polish language, which is not easy. I have a complete translation of the poems (including the text in IPA—International Phonetic Alphabet) available for purchase.
