Song for Carolyn

Several years ago, a friend of mine (we both sat in the alto section of our church choir) asked me to write a song for her. She was an artist currently taking a class in portrait painting and offered to do my portrait in exchange. So I went over and sat in her sunny studio and we visited as she worked at her easel, and in the meantime, I had been working at home on creating her song. It was a fun exchange. Sadly, my friend Carolyn died a few months ago. It was difficult, but because she had wanted me to, I played for her memorial service, including the 'Song for Carolyn' at her request.
