This is a great piece of music - graceful, eloquent, and fun are just a few of the words I'd use to describe it. However, the print is quite horrible. You can get past it, but it's still a pain! Highest recommendation!

  • February 18, 2009 hate the print!

Someone else needs to publish this one...the print completely detracts from the piece - and my overall enjoyment of playing of the piece was compromised by my frustration with the atrocious print! It's a nice piece, though - definitely worth having in the repertoire despite these publishing shortfalls.

This is an incredible piece!! I don't understand why it's not ever performed by the "famous" flutists. After all, it is dedicated to one of the greatest flutists ever!! : Samuel Baron. The piece is very inspired and extremely idiomatic. No wonder it won the Flute Composition Competition in...

NY . So, buy it and PLAY IT!!! This is a guaranteed success type of piece!!

  • January 17, 2008 fun music, bad print

Burton deserves better - he wrote a truly enjoyable Sonatina for Flute and Piano and the only edition in which it to be had is rather bad. Spacing between notes is uneven, an octave looks like an octave one measure but not the other, there are smudges on many of the...

bottom systems, the whole print looks handwritten and not very well on top of that.

This piece should be in every flutist's repertoire. While contemporary, it will speak to many divers audiences. It should be heard more often.
