This piece is not one for the light of heart! The physical music is very clear and easy to read. The score comes with a copy for your duo partner as well, making it even more worth the money! The music started out as a string quintet composed in 1864...

, but after the prompting of friends, Brahms reworked the piece into the two piano version in 1865. Brahms and good friend of his premiered the piece to some great reviews. Though, Clara Schumman, one of his closest friends felt that the work had not yet reached it's full potential. She and another violinist friend suggested that he rework it yet again into a piano quintet. Thus, later that year, the piano quintet was published as Op. 34, while the two piano sonata version was published as Op. 34bis. This piece is not for anyone. It takes a lot of work and effort to sound beautiful! However, the end result of such work is an amazing piece that audiences are sure to love!
