Soliloquy for Oboe
Oboe - Advanced - Digital Download
Composed by Christopher Brammeld. 21st Century, Contemporary Classical, Modern, Repertoire, Recital. 8 pages. Published by Christopher Brammeld (S0.255001).
Item Number: S0.255001
Immensely challenging and rewarding solo piece for the ambitious advanced oboist, this is a must-have addition to the oboe repertoire. Soliloquy begins with a two-note motif which recurs throughout the piece as a sort of refrain and which is presented in several guises. The piece progresses through numerous sections which alternate three different tempi: at roughly the mid-point, the series of tempi reverses back in a mirror image, giving the piece a symmetrical dimension. Intervallic and melodic motifs are presented differently depending on which tempo is being played. On a broader level, the piece is in ternary form, witha central scherzo being surrounded by quiter (often contemplative) music. Follow @bramcomposer.
