Sleigh Ride is the popular light Holiday standardcomposed by Leroy Anderson. The composer had the original idea for the pieceduring a heat wave in July 1946 and finished the work in February 1948. It wasoriginally an instrumental piece; the lyrics, about someone asking another tojoin them for a ride in a sleigh, were written by Mitchell Parish in 1950. Ithas remained a popular selection and Jari Villanueva has skillfully arrangedthis for Woodwind Quintet by slightly altering the key and adding some refreshingnew ideas to make it a more enjoyable piece.
