You have to use an urtext edition for Bach's music, period. But urtexts can be very expensive. This one is not, and yet it is just as good as ones that are priced at almost twice the cost. The Landshoff edition has always had a good reputation among reputable...

musicologists, but I had always been biased towards the Henle edition (with good reason). When I finally gave this edition a thorough review, I realized that this edition is absolutely equal in quality to the Henle. The edition includes Bach's table of ornaments. There are no added markings that are not in Bach's manuscripts. Everything one wants in a reliable urtext is here. There just is no reason to pay more for the others editions.
