Peter Josef von Lindpaintner was born in Koblenz (Germany) on December 9th, 1791. He is known mainly as a composer of operas (beginning with singspiele, but under the influence of Carl Maria von Weber switching later to Romantic Opera). His best-known opera is Der Vampyr (not to be confused with the opera of the same name by Heinrich Marschner, who lived and was active in Germany at the same time).
