The poet came to the composer with a request to set her words and melodies in song form, the end result being a varied collection of styles, ranges, vocal difficulty, and instrumental accompaniment. "Silver Ribbons, Silver Voices" is a short song for a lower voice and piano and is fitting for a young singer. Range is minimal, mostly within a G-G octave with one brief second space A. The only real challenge is cleanly negotiating the ascending arpeggio melody.
