    Difficulty Level:
  • March 07, 2007 Touchingly beautiful aria

This is Liu's first aria towards the end of Act I. It is wonderfully beautiful and looks deceiving simple. However the emotioinal palette required is very broad and breath control must be secure in order to tackle this aria. Any full lyric soprano who takes this on must be...

able to reach up to high Ab's and Bb's in pianissimo for a truly effective performance. The print is old looking but still incredibly easy to read for both pianist and singer. The piano part has been well reduced from the orchestral score so that it is actually possible to play if you have smaller hands like me, while still being very effective, and not sounding thin. Very good value for money, as is its companion, "Tu che di gel sei cinta," which is Liu's Act II aria. I bought both together and was not disappointed!
