This classic series of duets for like instruments is recognizable to nearly everyone who has ever studied an instrument. The wealth of material supplements musical development and provides a rich experience for growing musicians. Duet playing is often a student's first form of ensemble experience - technique, tone quality, intonation and balance are introduced as students do one of the things they enjoy most - making music with a friend. And duet playing leads easily and naturally to competent performance in larger ensembles. (Vol. I – Easy to Medium, Vol. 2 – Medium to Advanced).

  • February 13, 2008 Well-Respected Duet Publication...

This well-respected duet publication is available for ALL instruments. It's so important to introduce duet work, so that the student becomes a good independent player. And how nice it is to play duets at one's private lesson.

  • March 14, 2007 Fun!

Although there are not many simple duets an earlier student can play, there are many good duets in this book. We have played about half the book and found about 25% of the songs to be ones we would consider playing again. So if you're looking for something you...

will totally love, this probably isn't it. However, if you're looking for more music to play just so you can improve your playing, this is a great book to help with that.

  • December 14, 2003 nice book for melodic style

This is a nice method for helping the student develop a sense of classical melodic style and developing reading skills. Also, the skills of blending iwith other players and intonation are enhanced by this book. This type of experience is usually not found in beginning methods and is also not...

likely to be found in playing in larger school bands. While many of the early duets are accessible for most students, the ones later in the book are a challenge. I will generally put students in this book after 1-2 years of experience. And, in my studio, every player plays every part on every duet. In other words, we play through the duet with the student playing the lead and then we switch. this gives students experience in leading and in following.
