CD Antes Edition BM 319071 Schuler Johann Sebastian Bachs in Leipzig. Er ubersiedelte nach Dresden und wirkte dort zunachst von 1742 bis1755 als Organist an der Frauenkirche danach bis zu seinem Tod 1785 als Kreuzkantor und Musikdirektor der drei Dresdner Hauptkirchen.

Die vorliegende Urtext-Ausgabe berucksichtigt die Hauptquellen in denen die Choralvorspiele von Homilius meist mindestens dreifach uberliefert sind. Dem Organisten bieten die gut spielbaren Choralvorspiele zu auch heute viel gesungenen Liedern eine gezielte Bereicherung fur Konzert und Gottesdienst. Bach in Leipzig between 1735 and 1741. He then moved to Dresden and worked there first as an organist at the Frauenkirche from 1742 to 1755 and afterwards as cantor of the Kreuzkirche and music director of the three principal Dresden churches until his death in 1785.

The present Urtext edition takes into account the main sources in which Homilius' chorale preludes have been transmitted most of them at least three times each.
