Ideal for a school string ensemble or an advanced primary strings group. Alternatively it would be a good sight reading exercise for an intermediate string ensemble or a step to bridge the gap, to ready students for an intermediate group.
The piece will improve confidence with string crossing in both of the violin parts, which is mostly between a fingered string and an open string. Interlocking parts will encourage shared tempo and promote rhythmic accuracy. The viola part is the most technical; falling somewhere between grade 3 and grade 4, it forms the under-structure that the violin parts mesh with whilst also incorporating the tune and an original counter-melody.

I design my pieces to enable teachers to reinforce techniques learnt in one-to-one or group lessons. I try to pick modern and popular repertoire that will appeal to children or teenagers. I hope that this arrangement of One Republic's 'Secrets' achieves this.

I have now added an easy cello part which omits all of the original tricky sections, and spruced up the original part where a more experienced player might become bored. The easy cello part would be suitable for a pupil who is approaching, or has achieved grade 1. The piece will retain its integrity regardless of which part is played.

You will receive a score of comprising violins i and ii, viola and cello. Each individual part is included, plus the easy cello part and the piano reduction. You will also receive a full score with both the easy cello part and the piano reduction.

I'd been looking for an arrangement of this song for a while but everything I'd looked at had incredibly hard 'cello parts and all the melody in the 1st Violin. This arrangement was perfect for my high school strings ensemble (they loved it!) as everyone gets some tune...

and there's a great sense of drama as a whole. The individual parts flow brilliantly and putting together the opening riffs with the call and response between the violins has been a great exercise for their ensemble playing. The option of the easy 'cello part and piano reductions were really useful as not all of our group could make this concert and it meant every part could be supported. This was really easy to use, great fun to do with the group and even managed a challenge for my grade 3/4 viola player! A really well crafted and imaginative arrangement which I think would also work brilliantly for quartets. More like this please!
