Labe has included extensive historical background, helpful performance suggestions, expert fingering and a new orchestral reduction for second piano, making this among the most comprehensive editions available of Schumann's only published piano concerto. The comb binding creates a lay-flat book that is perfect for study and performance.

This marvelous piece is, thankfully, in a spiral binder so that it lies flat and the print is beautiful. The copious notes about the piece are very informative.

  • October 07, 2008 Useful well executed edition

The score is very clear, with reasonably large note heads printed on easy to read paper. As far as I can tell, the edition is accurate with sited references back to original sources. Spiral bound so it stays flat on the stand. The historical written material is also quite well...

done, though the "Analysis and Interpretation" section was a little light. The fingering suggestions are by and large useful and in some cases really helpful as they may be some what counter intuitive when sight reading, but better in the long run for performing.
