Scenes from a Crane Sighting recollects one late-winter trek to view sandhill cranes during migration.    Themes: Americana, Nature.   A composition for various seasons, spring, summer, fall, late winter, Earth Day, harvest or planting festivals.

Scene 1. THE WAITING. Waiting for the cranes in the sky as the day waned.  
Scene 2. THE CALL. Hearing the calls and glimpsing cranes as they foraged in the distant fields.
Scene 3. THE LONE WILD BIRD.
Scene 4. THE SIGHTING. Like specks emerging from distant cloud, their faint percussive sounds announcing their coming.
Scene 5. THE FORMATION.  Penetrating the heavens, now overhead, louder, ever more symphonic.  
Scene 6. THE FAREWELL. The furling and unfurling of great wings gracing the sunset skies.
