Composed by Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov (1844-1908). Arranged by Robert D McCashin. String Orchestra. FJH String Orchestra. Score and set of parts. Duration 4 minutes, 30 seconds. Published by The FJH Music Company Inc (FJ.ST6183).

Item Number: FJ.ST6183

This dynamic arrangement fully captures the mood and spirit embodied in Rimsky-Korsakov's original opus. Shortened to be more accessible, the piece includes solos for violin and viola before moving into the Allegro section. Expanded orchestration makes this ideal for large ensembles and festivals. A symphonic masterwork!
Russian Easter Overture was the third in a series of well-known and popular orchestral works written within about a year. The other works were Capriccio Espagnol and the symphonic suite Scheherazade. The underlying tunes come from the Russian Orthodox liturgy, based on a collection of old Russian Orthodox canticles. This arrangement successfully captures the mood and spirit embodied in Rimsky-Korsakov's original opus, while at the same time, brings this wonderful work into an accessible realm for students at the advanced high school level.
