Robin Adair (Eileen Aroon) for flute quartet

By Carroll O'Daly

Flute, 2 flutes, alto flute, bass flute - Early Intermediate
Composed by Carroll O'Daly. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century, Early Music, Neo-Classical, Folk, Celtic. Score, Set of Parts. 6 pages. Published by David Warin Solomons (S0.137013).

Item Number: S0.137013

The original tune for this song was composed with the words Eibhlin a Ruin (Ellen Aroon or Eileen Aroon) by the Irish bard Carroll O'Daly (14th Century), although it was later attributed to the 18th century Irish composer Charles Coffey (this was presumably an arrangement of the original).

Some later versions of the melody contain "Scotch snaps" but this version follows the simplest melodic line, without the Scotch snaps - possibly O'Daly's original tune? - and with quite romantic harmonies.

The pdf file contains score and parts.
The sound sample is an electronic preview.

A setting of the choral version (SATB) is also available on this site.
