About Choral Singing - The Easy Way to Learn

Learn your part in 2 stages: 1. The music is initially played with your own part louder than the other voices, which are performed quietly in the background. 2. Second time around your own part is omitted - it's now up to you to 'sing-along' with the rest of the chorus. Separate CDs for each voice part feature the choral movements of the piece. Orchestral parts are played on the piano.

The Verdi Requiem is one of the most difficult pieces I have ever learned to sing. I have been singing Alto in Choirs and Choruses for about 50 years and I love it. After my retirement I decided to do a lot more singing so I have joined 2 choirs...

and 4 choral groups. Frequently I only need one practice to learn a piece. I do not play any instrument but I can read music to a certain extent and have often "pounded out" notes for many difficult Choral pieces. However, the Verdi Requiem with its polyphonic parts, timing changes and key changes was beyond me. I am so grateful for the Choral Singing CD. We had out Concert performance this past weekend and I sang every note. Since I am seated in the front row center, I couldn't risk incurring the director's glare by singing off-note or off-beat. I am pleased to say that I did just fine. I strongly recommend the Choral Singing CD for anyone learning to sing a piece such as this.
