Composed by Kerry Mills. Arranged by Sandy McIntire. Contest,Country,Festival,Folk,Instructional,Traditional. 3 pages. Sandy McIntire #5308437. Published by Sandy McIntire (A0.697571).

Red Wing entered the genre of American folk music when Kerry Mills adapted the tune from Robert Schumann's Happy Farmer. The lyrics by Thurland Chattaway began, "There once lived an Indian Maid." Woody Guthrie later adapted the tune and lyrics to become "There once was a union maid," a popular rallying song for union workers. Today, the tune survives in old time and bluegrass genre for fiddle, mandolin, banjo and guitar.
This version is for early intermediate fiddle or mandolin and includes chords and guitar tab. It is part of McIntire's series, Mountain Momma Fiddle Tunes.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
