    This is a good edition in many ways: it contains suggestions for fingerings and bowings as well as tips for the cellist, as if having a lesson. It's the only one I've come across with measure numbers, and there's an invaluable CD for playing through the sonata...

    with piano as well as a performance by a fine cellist & pianist. My only real complaint is that there's no piano part included, so I had to buy another copy so I could give a part to my pianist, which meant spending another $20-25.

  • November 30, 2007 VERY HARD!!!

    Rachmaninov is infamous for his constant, unexpected tempo changes and keys. This piece is beautiful, but very hard to play, especially with the accompaniament, because of the tempo changes. They aren't written in the score and they occur every three measures or so. Also, to add to the challenge...

    , the music changes from treble,tenor, and bass cleft at Rachmaninov's whim. Must memorize the performance before you can really play accompanied.GOOD LUCK!
