  • April 22, 2009 So Glad I Found This Series

If you like to teach the same old pieces to every student, this is not your book. But if you want something exciting and new mixed in with your important traditional pieces, you've just hit gold. There is a great CD of the pieces to boot, right in each...

book. It is also important that the included pieces are in the original, with just enough editing to make the music playable by an intermediate student. A(lthough the description says "arranged," there are no "arrangements" in these books - just originals.)When the editor makes additions to the composer's original manuscript, he makes sure the reader can tell what he added vs. what the composer indicated. Yeah!! The best part is that the pieces in these collections are worth learning to play. I describe them as "teacher-savers"; the teacher is freed from a steady diet of the same thing year after year. And yet, the books still have the old standbys we want to teach every student. I am SOOO glad I found this series.
