    Overall, this is a decent collection of soprano arias. There's a little something for everyone: soubrette, coloratura, spinto and a whole lot of lyric. Unfortunately, there are no arias for dramatic. (As if dramatic sopranos can't be primma donnas, too!) I cannot fully recommend this collection. Why? Many...

    of the arrangements lost "something" when they were retooled and edited from the opera score to the song book. For example, in "Casta Diva," the arrangement poorly tries to make up for the loss of chorus singers after the first verse. In "A Fors,e Lui," instead of cutting out Alfredo's solo, it's left in the piano accomp. so the soprano is left on stage just doing nothing for 32 bars. I really appreciate G. Schrimer's contribution to the transcription of operas, but their English translations are rather square and corny. You're better off getting a foreign language professor to translate for you.
